Experience

Dr. Manrique de Lara has performed several thousand LASIK procedures with amazing results. Dr. Manrique de Lara has 9 years of postgraduate training with internships at Harbor Hospital Center in Baltimore, Maryland and the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He trained in Neurology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee and in Neuro-Ophthalmology at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. Dr. Manrique de Lara also trained at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, where he served as Chief Resident. He uses the VISX CustomVue™ LASIK and IntraLase™ “Blade Free LASIK” technologies. We invest in the latest technology because we would never expect our patients to settle for anything but the best! Plain and simple, better technology means better vision.

Reducing or eliminating your dependence on glasses and contact lenses is done by reshaping the cornea so that light can be correctly focused on the retina.

Using IntraLase™, a thin layer of the corneal cap is lifted by the laser. This means that, for the first time, LASIK can be performed without the use of any blade.

Next, Dr. Manrique de Lara uses the VISX Star 4 Excimer laser to reshape the tissue of the cornea. With VISX CustomVue™ (wavefront-guided LASIK), Dr. Manrique de Lara is able to reshape your cornea to your unique refraction. The flap is replaced and bonds in place without stitches. You can relax during the procedure knowing that you will be comfortable and aware of each step of the LASIK process as it is happening.
