8 REASONS NOT TO USE A DISCOUNT LASIK CENTER

1. No Long Term Quality of Care
   
   Discount centers that perform only laser eye surgery are not concerned with your long-term vision needs. Even though you have laser surgery to correct your vision, you may still develop other medical conditions that need treatment such as glaucoma or cataracts.
   
   
2. No Continuity of Care
   
   Usually the only contact that you will have with a surgeon at a discount center is during the laser treatment itself. Preoperative evaluations are usually performed by someone other than the laser eye surgeon and most times your surgeon has not even seen your personal vision findings, nor your eye, until the time of surgery.
   
3. No Choice of Surgeon
   
   Most times you are not be able to choose which eye surgeon that you would prefer and you are obligated to take whoever is available that surgery day. A doctor-patient relationship will not be established, unless of course a surgical complication occurs.
   
4. The Surgeon Quality
   
   Most lasik eye surgeons working for discount centers have been imported only to perform the surgery itself. Few have come from a busy, successful practice or they most likely would still be there.
   
   
5. Eye Surgery Should Never Be Performed By The Lowest Bidder
   
   Your eyes and the quality of your vision are too important to be sacrificed for price. Laser eye surgery IS surgery and any decisions concerning your eyes and eye surgery should be considered carefully. Remember, this is your one and only set of eyes.
   
6. Laser Equipment Quality
   
   Despite their claims, the lasers being used by many discount laser chains are not of the same high quality that most experienced and respected surgeons use, therefore the results may not be as good.
   
   
7. Advertised Fees Often Not Final Cost
   
   Most discount laser centers engage in bait-and-switch advertising where unbelievable low prices are used to merely get you in the door. Once there, you are most often told that your prescription does not qualify for the low price. Also many times the low fee does not cover follow-up or surgery utilizing the most advanced technology.
   
   Counselors at these centers are usually paid bonuses based on the number of people they sign up; thereby motivating them to say or do whatever it takes to schedule your surgery.
