Woodlands Custom Vision – Houston’s Preferred Lasik Center

Dr. Manrique de Lara is a dedicated eye surgeon specializing in refractive surgery. Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Manrique de Lara is currently the Medical Director of The Woodlands Custom Vision and Manrique Custom Vision Centers.

Dr. Manrique de Lara’s 9 years of postgraduate training began with internships at Harbor Hospital Center in Baltimore, Maryland and the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He trained in Neurology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee and in Neuro-Ophthalmology at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan.

Since 1995, Dr. Manrique de Lara has been in Ophthalmology. He trained at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, where he also served as Chief Resident.Then he moved back to Texas to become faculty of the Scott & White Clinic and Assistant Professor at Texas A & M University. He is currently Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center. He is member of American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Corneal and Refractive Surgery and International Society of Refractive Surgery.

Dr. Sairah Malik, a Texas licensed optometrist, joined the Woodlands Custom Vision team in March of 2006. Originally from Canada, she completed her undergraduate coursework at the University of British Columbia. She received her doctorate at the University of Houston College of Optometry and is currently board certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease and is a certified glaucoma specialist. Dr. Malik has had extensive training in refractive surgery and cataract surgery management. Prior to joining the Woodlands Custom Vision team, she worked with several Lasik centers in Canada and the US bringing with her a wealth of knowledge in primary eye care and laser vision correction acquired throughout her professional career.
